A Guide on Automatically Changing the on Your iPhone Using Shortcuts App

Are you bored of looking at the same screen wallpaper every time you unlock your

phone? What if you could use your phone’s settings to change the wallpaper
automatically? If you own an iPhone, it can be done using the Shortcuts app. Isn’t
that great?

iPhone or iPad running on iOS 14.3, iPadOS 14.3, or later enables you to access the
‘Set Wallpaper’ feature in the Shortcuts app. In simple words, you can create a
shortcut that will automatically change the wallpaper and set an image from your
preferred album. The action can be activated at any time you want. Not only this, but
the ‘Automation’ feature of the Shortcuts app can automatically change the wallpaper
any time you set it or whenever you change your location.

Therefore, if you’re one of those who want to see new images at different times of
the day or whenever you like, the Shortcuts app has got your back.
Adding and Customizing the AutoWall Shortcut Before getting started, make sure that you’ve enabled the ‘Untrusted Shortcuts’

feature. Also, create an album in the Photos app consisting of all the images you
want to use as wallpaper. The steps to add and customize the AutoWall shortcut are

  1. Import a ready-made AutoWall shortcut and open the same using any
browser on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Click on the ‘Get Shortcut’ button in the window.
  3. You’ll be headed to the ‘Shortcuts’ app. Locate the ‘Add Untrusted Shortcut’
option and click on the same.
  4. Click on the ‘My Shortcuts’ tab.
  5. Tap on the ‘ellipsis’ icon on the top-right corner of the AutoWall shortcut.
  6. Under the Photos section, tap on the ‘Allow Access’ option.
  7. Click on the ‘Ok’ option in the pop-up menu for confirmation. Notably, the
shortcut can now access the Photos app.
  8. Tap on the ‘Recents’ link in the Shortcuts app.
  9. Select the album you created to use for the wallpapers and hit the ‘Done’
    button to save the shortcut.
Now, the shortcut for changing the wallpapers has been made. Whenever you
activate the AutoWall shortcut, the wallpaper of the lock screen and home screen will
    be automatically changed.
Creating Automation for Changing Wallpapers in
    Shortcuts App
It is essential to mention that changing the wallpaper with a tap on your iPhone or
iPad is not truly an automatic process. Therefore, follow the instructions mentioned
below to activate the shortcut by default for changing the wallpaper at any given
    time.
  10. Launch the ‘Shortcuts’ app on your iPhone or iPad.
  11. Click on the ‘Automation’ tab at the bottom.
  12. Tap on the ‘+’ icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
  13. A pop-up menu will open. Click on the ‘Create Personal Automation’ button.
  14. Tap on the ‘Time of Day’ option or select the location-based triggers.
  15. Select the time you want the wallpaper to change. Also, to see the changing
wallpapers daily, select ‘Daily’ under the ‘Repeat’ section.
  16. Hit the ‘Next’ button.
  17. Click on the ‘Add Action’ option.
  18. Search for the ‘Run Shortcut’ option in the search bar and tap on the desired
    result.
  19. Click on the ‘Shortcut’ link under the ‘Shortcuts’ section.
  20. Select the ‘AutoWall’ shortcut and hit the ‘Next’ button in the upper-right
    corner.
  21. Turn the slider on for the ‘Ask Before Running’ option.
  22. A pop-up menu will open. Select the ‘Don’t Ask’ option, which will confirm the
    automation.
  23. Click on the ‘Done’ button.
Once you’ve followed all the steps correctly, the automation will be set. Whatever
time you’ve set for the automation, you’ll receive a notification that the automation is
activated, and the wallpaper will change within a second. Notably, you can also set
solid or gradient wallpapers in place of images.
Setting up automation for changing wallpapers is fun, right? So, if you’ve already
updated your Apple device to its recent version, try the new feature now and surprise
    yourself with new wallpapers.
