Snapdragon 888 Vs. A14: Qualcomm & Apple 5G Mobile Chips Compared

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 and Apple’s A14 are considered to be the most premium 5G mobile chips in today’s date. For better performance, the Snapdragon 888 uses an X60 modem in comparison with iPhone 12. However, Apple’s A14 Bionic chip is one of the most powerful processors. It powers Apple iPhone 12, but, after the announcement of Snapdragon 888 for smartphones from Qualcomm, we see a great and deserving competitor of Apple’s A14 chip in the market.

Although both 5G mobile chips are considered powerful, they have some differences also. Qualcomm claims the fastest possible 5G performance, and it supports almost all the available bands across the globe. It also leads to a great enhancement in artificial intelligence performance ever and a 35% better GPU performance. The previous processor, Snapdragon 865 from Qualcomm, featured a powerful camera

with a processing power of 2-gigapixels per second. Due to this powerful processor with advanced technology for video recording, you can record 4K resolution videos, 8K resolution videos, and even slow-motion videos at a frame rate of 960-FPS. It also allows you to capture images of up to 200MP. In short, the Snapdragon 865+ is a powerful chip and a tweaked version, but, Snapdragon 888 is much better than its
previous flagships.

However, the complete information has not been released by Qualcomm about the
newest Snapdragon 888 5G mobile chip yet. Still, Qualcomm provided enough
information for making the comparison with Apple’s A14 Bionic chip, found in the
recently launched iPad Air 4 and iPhone 12 by Apple. Qualcomm also claimed that its

new Snapdragon 888 is the first processor globally that offers almost every key
combination, such as aggregation of TDD, Sub-6, and FDD carrier. Apple’s A14 does
not integrate 5G and is offered by X55 5G modem from Qualcomm.
When we talk about 5G performance, the Snapdragon 888 has the advantage of using an X60 modem that can merge several networking signals to enhance the speed.

Although the actual effect of this would vary according to the carrier and region,
Qualcomm still wins in this area. When it comes to AI processing, the Snapdragon 888 possesses 26-TOPS (Tera Operations Per Second). This is more than double the A14’s 11 TOPS. This is why every smartphone that uses a Qualcomm processor offers faster voice and image recognition.

Processing Power, Camera & Gaming Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 possesses an impressive 26-TOPS and the biggest leap in artificial intelligence ever across the globe. We already know that Apple’s A14 is the fastest chip in today’s date that beats the Snapdragon 865 when it comes to single-core performance, but when it comes to multi-core, it holds only a moderate edge. However, the newest Snapdragon 888 can surpass A14 when it comes to heavy processing but
cannot beat Apple’s A14 in single-core.

Gaming is one of the key factors in advancing technology for mobile devices, and it
depends on power generated by the entire system, mainly GPU. Qualcomm has
claimed a 35% improvement in graphics processing with the newest Snapdragon 888. In many ways, the previous processor Snapdragon 865 from Qualcomm, beats Apple’s A14 Bionic chip. So the newest Snapdragon 888 can make the gap more wide as the

performance of the image processor in Snapdragon 888 has been increased to 2.7-
gigapixels. It will improve the potential camera resolution and speed.

A major difference between the manufacturers of various other smartphones and Apple products is that Apple tends to release and sell the finalized product instead of its
specification. In the case of Apple’s phones, you hold the real phone that plays actual games and records real videos. Although from the available information about the Snapdragon 888, it possesses great potential. We will get to know in the coming years how it will surface in the upcoming Android phones. On the other hand, the newest iPhone 12 with its Apple A14 Bionic chip is the powerful smartphone in today’s date.

After discussing the differences and similarities between Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 and Apple’s A14 5G mobile chip, we have concluded that both are currently the most premium and powerful chips, respectively, with minor differences.
