Did You Catch the First Look of Fortnite’s Ghost Rider?

Are you a fan of Fortnite as well as Marvel? You would be pleased to know that Fortnite has just released the first look of Ghost Rider, who is set to feature in its upcoming game.

It looks like Ghost Rider will be the new Marvel character joining the list of Iron Man, Thor, Wolverine, Black Panther, and Star-Lord as one of the heroes in the forthcoming game. Epic Games has recently tweeted a contour of a new character, which will be featuring in the Marvel Knockout Super Series. If you have only seen the image, then you wouldn’t have made anything out of it. However, one look at the emoji, and you would know which character is in reference to that tweet.

The shady image was revealed along with a skull and a fire emoji. Do you need any other clues?

Some fans are suggesting that the lack of a motorbike in the revelation might mean that the character could be somebody else, but no true Marvel fan would agree with that. Skull and fire mean only one thing in the Marvel universe.

There is still uncertainty hanging over the release date for the upcoming Fortnite game, but fans of Ghost Rider are satisfied with the fact that at least the gaming giant is making some progress.

You can visit Fortnite’s Twitter handle to view the image but let me assure you by the looks of it; the character is none other than the beloved phantom rider (also, see the spikes on his jacket). But, the head or the skull of the man does not seem to be blazing with fire (a deviation from the well-recognized version of the character).

It is imperative to acknowledge the argument made by the very well versed fans of comic books, which have pointed out that the character we see through the silhouette might be a hero called Cosmic Ghost Rider. In Marvel comics, a Cosmic Ghost Rider is actually  Frank Castle (The Punisher) from the future. Only if you have read the comics, you can understand what I am talking about. In one of the comics, Frank Castle, who we know as The Punisher, comes from a distant future. In the same comics, in one of the scenes, we see him in a Ghost Rider persona but behind a partially transparent helmet.

If this theory has any substance, then that image makes a whole lot of sense.

Fans have also pointed towards Donny Gates, who had penned down Fortnite related comic and the character Cosmic Ghost Rider. Even the storyline of the upcoming season has some inspiration from Gates’ ongoing Thor series. Having said that, it’s no surprise that Fortnite’s version of Thor is pretty much similar to the version created by Nic Klein, and further efforts are being made to make sure that the crossover does not hamper the chronology in the Marvel comics.

Only two Ghost Riders characters have been adapted into film or television characters- Johnny Blaze and  Robbie Reyes. However, it will be interesting to see how Fortnite will approach this unexplored version of Ghost Rider. It should be fun.
