  3. The Google Duo will ask you to enter a phone number. Do the same to obtain a verification code via text message, then enter this code in the app to verify your phone number.

How to Make an Audio or Video Call on Google Duo

Making a video or audio call cannot be any easier if you are using Google Duo. All you need to do is open the Duo app on your device. This will activate the front camera. The bottom of this screen will have a swipe-up section displaying your recent contacts. So bring up this section and see if the person you want to call is on the list; else, you can use the search bar above to find that person. Once you have found the person, tap on their name to bring up the options to make an audio or a video call. If you want to make a group call, then you can tap on the button named “create a group” at the bottom of the main screen.

How to Record Video/Audio Messages on Google Duo

What if the person you are trying to call on Google Duo doesn’t it? Well, in that case, you can use Duo’s feature that allows you to send audio/video messages. That too with different effects and fun filters. Here is how:

  1. Tap on the name of the contact you want to send the message to.
  2. On the screen that appears, tap on the message icon at the bottom right.
  3. The next screen with the front camera On will present you the message options, including voice, video, photo, and a note.
  4. Tap on voice to record a voice message and on the video to record a video message.
  5. Now, tap the big record button in the center of the screen to start recording your audio/video message.
  6. Tap on the record button again once you have recorded the whole message.
  7. Finally, hit the Send button.

How to Apply Effects and Filters on Google Duo

  1. You will notice the icons for Effects and Filters towards the right-hand side of the video recording screen.
  2. Just tap on them to select the available options.
  3. And you can then record your video messages with these effects and filters on.

Other Features and Settings on Google Duo

Google Duo has a few minimalistic but interesting features that make this video calling app stand out from others. Below we have listed and given a brief description of such features and settings available in Google Duo.

  1. Tapping on the triple-dot icon, a video call will offer you options to switch to the rear camera, mute yourself, portrait mode, etc.
  2. Tapping on the triple-dot icon on the main screen of the app and then on Settings will provide your account information, notifications, and call settings.
  3. If you open the call setting here, you will be able to adjust the light and data settings.
  4. Also, you can choose to add Duo call notifications to your phone’s call history.
